Don was happily influenced in the doing of "art" by his brother Jim, who did pencil sketching, and his mother Marjorie who painted in oils. Don inherited his mother's brushes, paints and so forth, and this got him started oil painting in 1970's
In the 1970's and for the last few years, Don has been painting with John Peisley of Pavilion, a well-known artist in the Western New York area. He has also attended workshops by T.M. Nicholas and Charles Sovek in Greenville, NY. He has exhibited with the Batavia Society of Artists.
